Tropical Waterlilies

Street’s has a great selection of tropical waterlilies.  In the South tropicals  are not annuals, these waterlilies will bloom from late May until the first frost.  They are the centerpiece of any pond.  Tropical waterlilies can grow in up to 3 feet of water, their span is up to 15 feet. One bloom can grow 6″ across and if planted in a large enough container they can have 4 or more blooms per plant.  Tropical’s need full sun, at least 6 hours to be fully productive.  They are temperature dependent, unlike hardy waterlilies who are photo-periodic.  Tropicals will not go dormant until the water temperatures start dropping.  We have had them blooming in December, here in Fairhope.  Below are a couple of pictures of our plants, these are planted in one gallon no hole containers.  We recommend that you plant them in at least a five gallon container to let them grow to their full capacity.  Visit Street’s to see our ponds and plants.  We are a fun and informative place to shop.
