Mimosa Turtle Cuff
Of all the critters a kid can carry home in their pockets, a baby red-eared slider comes with some of the most bragging rights.
Around here, all you need is water, and not much of it. A ditch, a bayou, a creek, or a pond with a log is bound to be covered in turtles soaking up the warm sun.
There’s a deep knowing in the slow and steady determination of a turtle bound for its destination. The kind of knowing that represents eons of hard-earned wisdom aimed at survival.
This piece is an homage to some of our favorite Louisiana turtles:
• The alligator snapping turtle – the one that comes with stories of legend for most of us
• The red-eared slider – the one many of us have carried home in a pocket
• The box turtle – the one most likely to visit you in your backyard
• The softshell turtle – the standout with its smooth, flat shell and long, pointed head
• The mud turtle – a shiny little potato-shaped friend
Handcrafted from Bronze
The SMALL cuff fits up to a 6.75" wrist.
The MEDIUM cuff fits up to a 7.5" wrist.
MIMOSA bracelets are slightly adjustable. The first time you put your new bracelet on, adjust it one time to a size that slips on and off comfortably.
Our jewelry is solid cast metal, so repeated adjusting can cause it to break!
Bronze first: Our bronze is a solid copper + tin alloy, lead free. Copper can react with the natural acids, sweat, and moisture in your skin. Some people may see a harmless green or blue mark. Others never do. It can even vary day to day based on humidity, activity, or hydration. This is normal and not a quality issue.
Tarnish & patina: Bronze darkens over time, just like sterling silver. That "dirty" look is natural oxidation (patina), not damage. A quick polish brings back a warm glow similar to 14k gold at a fraction of the cost. The trade off is a bit of maintenance.
Quick prevention tips:
• Remove before washing hands, swimming, showering, or heavy sweating.
• Dry well after wear.
• Apply a thin coat of clear nail polish or jewelry wax to the inside that touches skin if you are sensitive.
• Polish as needed with a treated jewelry cloth or gentle metal polish.
