Mimosa Snake-Rope Cuff
The snake-rope analogy often pops into my "bent-for-fear" mind. The snake visits nightly, early morning, and all day between. The snake can be a tough conversation, an intimidating project, or a scary trip, to name a few. Almost always, by the light of day, it's just a rope. The tough conversation wasn't so bad, the project was fun, and the trip was exciting.
I've spent too much of my life wrestling fake brain snakes. I've wasted imagination and creativity infusing ropes with enough drama to turn them into the stuff of the scariest stories. Whatever fear I'm focused on, this analogy has a way of helping me zoom out just long enough to get a glimpse of reality instead of the monsters I'm making up.
This piece is a wearable reminder to ask myself, is it a snake?
Or is it (and almost always more likely) just a rope?

MIMOSA bracelets are slightly adjustable. The first time you put your new bracelet on, adjust it one time to a size that slips on and off comfortably.
Our jewelry is solid cast metal, so repeated adjusting can cause it to break!
Made by hand in our South Louisiana studio.
Each piece varies slightly due to its handmade nature.
Bronze first: Our bronze is a solid copper + tin alloy, lead free. Copper can react with the natural acids, sweat, and moisture in your skin. Some people may see a harmless green or blue mark. Others never do. It can even vary day to day based on humidity, activity, or hydration. This is normal and not a quality issue.
Tarnish & patina: Bronze darkens over time, just like sterling silver. That "dirty" look is natural oxidation (patina), not damage. A quick polish brings back a warm glow similar to 14k gold at a fraction of the cost. The trade off is a bit of maintenance.
Quick prevention tips:
• Remove before washing hands, swimming, showering, or heavy sweating.
• Dry well after wear.
• Apply a thin coat of clear nail polish or jewelry wax to the inside that touches skin if you are sensitive.
• Polish as needed with a treated jewelry cloth or gentle metal polish.
